Why do them churches want me to pay 10 percent of my money?

If you are a christian you should have read from the bible that the tithing is to do the will of God.Where does it say that tithing is to be stopped ? The money is to help spread the gospel of Jesus to all the ends of the world. Remember you will stand before God . You can help support missions if you choose not to attend a church.
