Is a inmated after serving time entittled to food stamps, medicad or a ss check?

son hitsas served 3 yrs, and needs help with things can he received state benefits, or ss check for being incarcerated so long....how do I get the paper work for this or these benefits...what can he get..and where. we are in SC.
