Which footwear goes best with shorts?

Which footwear goes best with shorts? I can't wear sandels or anything similar, because I have Vitiligo on my feet (the thing that 'apparently' made Michael Jackson white). I don't really wear proper shorts, because they're just not too fashionable at the moment, but I wear 3 quarter lengths. Also, regular socks or trainer socks (the ones that go up to your ankle)?
