According to Vedic Hinduism, what is necessary to achieve liberation?

I'm trying to find some good sources, but most stuff I've found is vague and unfocused. Can somebody tell me the main points, or provide some good sources (not Wikipedia or other weak sources, please). And yes, I have tried google.
